Why Bed Bugs Are Such A Big Problem

Home & Garden Blog

Bed bugs are pests that most people think they will never have to deal with in their homes. This is because so many people think they are limited to dirty hotels. However, the truth is that all hotels, even new ones and the nicest of them can have bed bugs. Also, something people don't realize is that bed bugs can make their way into a home in so many ways that anyone can end up with them. Bed bugs are very bad pests to have in your home for many reasons, some of which you can learn about here:

Bed bugs can quickly infest your home

You can bring a random bed bug into your home that was picked up anywhere, such as a hotel, the seat on a bus, the seat at a movie theater, a friend's house, or anywhere else. From that point, you can quickly find yourself dealing with a full-blown bed bug infestation in your home.

Bed bug eggs can hatch in around a week and a half and it only takes about five weeks for them to become adults who can then continue laying eggs. Another thing to consider is that a bed bug can live for around a year. Once you understand these things about bed bugs, then you will see why it is so easy for you to end up with a full-blown infestation after you bring a single bed bug into your home.

Bed bugs can invade many areas of your home

As their name suggests, it is common to find bed bugs in your bed when you have an infestation. However, they can also end up in a lot of other areas of your home. Bed bugs can hide inside of books, in the cracks in your walls, in the fabric of your furniture, in the seams of wood furniture, in the seams of your wallpaper, which is common because they are attracted to the glue, and in many other places. This is why it can be so hard for you to get rid of them. If you use a bug bomb in the house, many of them will be hiding in areas where they don't even come in contact with the bug bomb residue, so they won't be affected by it and will continue to infest your home.

Bed bugs will leave your family with bites

Bed bugs feed on blood, and this means they will come after you and your family members to feed. They will bite you, and you will end up with red and raised bite marks. Also, you can be bitten by a lot of them, so when you have an infestation, you can have bite marks all over your body.

Now that you have learned more about the problems that bed bugs can bring into your home and how easy it is for the situation to get out of hand, you will see why you want to call a pest control company out at the first signs of bed bugs in your home. Reach out to a local bed bug control service if you need help.

Keeping Cool All Summer Long

Moving to a hot climate freed me from dealing with snow and ice in the winter. However, it also brought a lot more heat during the summer. I had resigned myself to paying big bills for cooling nine months out of the year when I found out from a friend that my air conditioner was struggling and need in of repair. Once a technician stopped by and gave my equipment a tune up, my cooling costs were nearly cut in half! This surprising discovery prompted me to head online and blog about my experiences. Even if you and your family only use the air conditioner a few times a month during the summer, you can benefit from my tips on keeping the equipment running smoothly and efficiently. You'll appreciate the combination of cooler indoor temperatures and lower monthly bills.
